Consumerist

I am from a small town in Southern France, and the consumerist environment of Manhattan intrigues and repulses me. I am fascinated by the “theatre of the street” and the constant ebb and flow of people.

Particularly in Manhattan, the backdrop of advertising is so ubiquitous that pedestrians seem impervious to its influence.  The propaganda of the “good life” attempts to manipulate the consumer with artificial pleasures. But do they even notice? Pedestrians weave in and out of this advertising landscape, becoming part of the atmosphere themselves.
